The ingredients of the Gruit have been carefully chosen, however, to complement and accentuate the hop flavours - spicy, citrusy, peppery and floral. Banks’s Botanical Beer - a true taste of yesterday; today; and tomorrow

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Amber with a negligible white head. Sweet and buttery with just a faint floral hint. Maybe s bit of lemon. Like the florals but needs a lot more of them. Poor.

Shrewsbury Hotel Spoons. Cask. Clear gold beer, residual white head. Palate is light and a little dry. Very mild floral herb vibe, twangy. Slightly tangy marmalade hops. Light pepper spice before a semi dry finish. Mild bitter linger. Mmmm by not nailing their colours to the gruit mast properly I think this has ended up being fudged, but it’s passable.

Cask at the moon under water jdw, Watford. Clear pale golden coloured pour with a lasting loose white head. Aroma is mostly honey and sweet caramel malts, spicy hedgerow Berry hop. Flavour is composed off sweaty grains, light honey malts, considerable English yeast esters, some earthy lemon and straw in the finish. Palate is medium light with, lowish carbonation and good condition. Firm bitterness. Clean tasty beer if a bit unexciting.
