Deep, super rich and fully opaque, almost squid inky beautiful deep violet coloured body with a pretty thick, two to three centimetre tall off-white head that fades fast and leaves just a thin off-white layer atop the 95 per cent opaque deep purple body - very nice looking and super rich. Aroma of the blackcurrants of course, a bunch of bread and yeast notes, a light hit of lemons (sometimes coupled with blackcurrants), some soft wheat and a dash of grassiness towards the end, but the rich fruits are evident, however not front and centre and pungent in the nose. Medium to Full-bodied; Rich, soured, tart and slightly rustic blackcurrant flavours dominate here with a lot of dry and grassy elements that you would typically get from the fruit in the first place, with some lemons and wheat notes as well and a dry herbal and tannic quality that is reminiscent of red wines, but this is the deep skins from the small fruits. Aftertaste shows some subdued sweetness from the fruit, but there is a ton of sourness (funny with the name of the beer, huh?!?) with the blackcurrant fruit really coming out along with some light lemons and grasses and a kick of yeast and bread at the very end that gives off a bit of the richness, but then the tart fruit balances things out nicely with a little bit of sweetness, too. Overall, a nice and true-to-the name beer with a lot of blackcurrant notes, almost more of a fruit cobbler (with alcohol) than a beer, especially in old-fashion terms, but if you like blackcurrants like I do, and you like fruit beers, then this is a big winner. I'll be happy to try more of this series (other fruits) when I find them, but this was a great introduction and a very well-crafted beer! I sampled this 50 cL can, purchased from Knightly Spirits in Orlando (Orange Blossom Trail), Florida on 04-November-2021 for US$6,17 sampled at my house here in Washington on a very hot day here on 19-August-2022.

(Bottle) Cloudy dark purple colour with frothy, reddish pink head. Fruity, sourish nose with black-currant, bread, wort, vinegar and spices. Fruity tart taste with notes of black-currant, dark bread, balsamic vinegar, spices and a dry and tart finish with low bittreness. Medium body, dry. A bit one-dimensional, mainly focusing on black-currant. But really tatsy. Very nice.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, dark red colour with a medium-sized pink foamy head. Fruity aroma of blackcurrant with a mildly fruity sweetness from behind. Sourish tannic flavour, medium to light bodied with a soft carbonation. Mildly dark malt character with tannic cassis notes, leading into a dry and slightly bitter finish with a sour-fruity tail. Lacks a bit drinkability. 04.VI.18

Can shared at THT July. Deep purple with light purple head. Indeed lots of black currant, milky grains, hay, grassy, light malts, quite bready. Medium sweet, bitter and light sour. Over medium bodied. Nice.
