The Rev. James ales are based on an original recipe from 1885, and named in honour of brewing legend the Rev. James Buckley, saver of souls and satisfier of thirsts. Brewed with our exclusive Buckleys yeast, they each deliver a signature taste with a surprising twist.
The Rev. James Gold is crisp and sweet with fresh fruit flavours that are balanced by an intriguing depth and a light malty aroma.

(Bottle) Pours clear golden with loose white head. Pleasant aroma of grassy hops with hints of biscuit and citrus. Light bodied with somewhat fizzy carbonation. Taste starts with pleasant citrusy tartness over some not very malty sweetness. There’s some bitterness in finish. Pleasant but not great.

Cask-conditioned and unfined at the Queens Vaults, Cardiff 3/4/2016. Golden in colour, with a decent, off-white, head. Aroma of stone fruits and leafy hops. Flavour was sweetish, with more apricot fruit, biscuity malts and a moderately bitter finish. Good.

50cl bottle from Aldi, Bracknell. A pale golden amber pour with a tight cream head; some weak peachy fruit on the aroma; crisp fruity taste with a light malty body; and a fresh grassy bitterness; giving a lingering bitter finish with some peach stones and sweet biscuit. Solid, but not very exciting.
