Pours clear amber with tan head. The aroma has plums and raisins and then lesser notes of molasses, cinnamon, brown sugar, faint earthiness and pine hops. The taste is near robust in strength with raisins and plums as well as brown sugar, molasses and cinnamon spice. By about midway pine hops and mild earthy hops come forward as well as a sense of dates that help take it into the finish. As it warms and opens up the pine hops begin to shine brightly.

Bottle. Big thanks to coyotehunter for this. Pours an orangish copper with a little bit of a white foamy head and aromas that are sweet and pretty blah. Lots of a honey and oranges type presence. Flavor is similarly sweet and doesn’t really have much of a direction. Cloying malt with little hops to balance things out. This is kinda... no... this is really disappointing.

Pours slightly hazy copper color with off white head. Mostly caramel in the aroma with some floral hops. Sweet caramel and toffee flavors with some citrus and bitterness. Medium body with average carbonation. I think this one is past it’s prime.

Bottle thanks to Styles. Pours dark brown with reddish hue. Nose and taste of toffee, honey, brown sugar and candi sugar. Very similar to a barley wine.

Light brown with a creamy tan head. A firm aroma of sweet, lightly roasted malts, dark ripened fruit, light chocolate, caramel/molasses, some pine hops, too. Sticky sweet molasses, malty, light toasted malts, pine hops are well represented, too. Smooth, lightly syrupy mouth. Comes across as a hybrid sipper/easy drinker. A tasty and fun beer to drink.

Sweet with lots of hops. Aroma starts off with flowers and dry grass. Flavor has lots of caramel and biscuit, but lots of hops here also. Thick and sweet, and I thought it was a little stronger than it actually is. Becomes cloying near the end, but not complaints really. Dark brown color.

Toffee and feet aroma. Clear copper, medium yellow head, good lacing. Sweet toffee and date flavor, very oaky. Full bodied with a grassy date finish. Malty and robust, but out of balance and wanting a greater hop presence. Good.

Not bad but not great. This is a pretty standard ASA. A fair bit of malt character, sorta caramelized tasting but mostly just straight caramel malt sweetness. Pine/citrus hops are also pretty strong. It just doesn’t really come together, though. The beer has a caramel paint thinner flavor that isn’t really terrible but certainly doesn’t help things much. Body is a bit thin for the malt presence. Alcohol is too strong of a presence. The beer is a fairly dark shade of orange-ish amber with a solid off-white head. I’m surprised that Bell’s didn’t go a more exciting route for their 25th anniversary.

Bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a medium frothy offwhite head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of toffee, spicy citrus hop notes and stone fruits. The taste is spicy, peppery and citrus hop notes with toffee, berries and a faint bit of booze. Medium-full bodied.

12 ounce bottle. Pours clear red orange color with a really dense 2 finger off white head with insane retention and insane lacing. Aromas of citrus, caramel, some fruits, and oak. Taste of rye, citrus, and caramel, with some fruit notes. Some slight bitterness on the finish. Creamy medium body and carbonation. Alcohol is no where to be seen despite 8.5%. Overall this was pretty interesting stuff, but another tasty brew from Bells for me!
