22oz (thx, Matt!) @ Ryan's. 43rd birthday gathering.
Aroma: a bit spicy, bold, a bit of dark fruits.
Taste: along the same, quite weird, kinda oxidized or something.
Overall: not really worth attention, unfortunately, compared to their stouts.

Dark brown. No head. The aroma...it's certainly barley wine, and I do get that char. It's an interesting combination. Some dried apricot fruitiness, but not a lot. Oily, full body. Light vanilla, but more on the char/wood side of things. Finishes kind of on the juicy side.

22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small tan head. Aroma has some celery, woody barrel notes, and booze. Flavour likewise has plenty of celery, bourbon barrels, booze, dark sugars, and wood. Too much celery/vegetal character. Good malts and barrels, but not the most cohesive or complex.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Very dark brown with minimal light beige head. Dried raisins and prunes, bourbon, slight vegetable, but sweet note in the background. Decent, but slightly weird note.

22 oz bottle. Aroma is bold Weller bourbon, raisins and prune. Flavor shows a rich malt Barley wine base. Richest of dark fruits. Prune, raisin and sticky toffee. Hints of tobacco. Crazy amount of malt depth!

Cheers to MadMitch. Delicious stuff. Rich and decadent, ample dark stewed fruits, toffee, leather, bourbon, fruit leather, modest booze, fruitcake, toasted honey, a nip of vanilla, mincemeat. A small dose is plenty, such is the depth and heft here.

CBJ Tasting. Bottle. Opaque cola brown. Thin tan head. Aroma has sweet booze and dark fruits. Peripheral sourness. Flavourwise it's enveloping - dark fruit with spur edge and booze. Thick. Oily. Soft-average carbonation. Long slightly astringent finish. Noice.

Tasting at CBJ, thanks to me. Near opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head, doesn't last. Smooth light palate, modest fine carbonation. Fine for this style. Smooth malts, a little chocolate and dark toffee. Massive bourbon but smooth. Bourbon soaked dark fruits. Mild bourbon spice. Smooth finish. Simple but sumptuous. The bourbon delivery is spot on.
