Cask at GBBF '22 day 1, 02/08/22. Clear amber to dark golden with a good sized lasting beige crown formed of bubbles. Nose is sweet malts, toffee, fruit cake mix, alcohol, dates, brown sugar melt. Taste comprises toffee melt, figs, dates, caramel, fruit loaf, light spice, nutty, candied fruit peel, light spice. Full bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced warming boost. One of the best high boost cask beers I've had ... flavoursome and well balanced, never too sticky or hot.

2nd August 2022
GBBF Day 1. Cask. Almost clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, very slight viscosity, decent fine carbonation. Smooth rich malts, creamy sweetness, good rye spice and tang. A little ripe citrus and citrus peel on the back end. Light semi dry spicy finish. Magnificent cask barleywine.

Flavour is nice boozy sponge cake, raisin, brown sugars, layered, malts. Palate is semi sweet, chewy, hides the abv well, good condition.

On tap at AleSmith, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma is intensely hoppy, with tons of earthy hops, bready malt and some armpits — that doesn't smell so great to be honest. Flavour is a little better, with bready malt, tired earthy hopping and that same armpit / BO character. Not quite sure what they were aiming at here. The barley wine character is nice, but the hops are clouding this up and not elevating it. There's some booze and residual sweetness that like through but this doesn't work overly well for me ultimately.
