Cask at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence. An attractive reddish chesnut colour with a loose cream head; earthy malt aroma; toffee and malt flavours with some gentle dry hops; and a nutty finish. A comforting autumnal bitter.

Cask handpull at Victoria Station, JDW, Victoria. Chestnut colour with lasting thick cream head. Yes, blackcurrant/hedgerow fruit but just a little muddled maybe. Served way too cold. need to re-try. Fine. Dark fruity bitter.

From cask at Counting House. Pours clear and golden deep brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma is roasted malty, slight breadish. Rather bitter and subdued roasted malty. Dry and bitter into the finish. Rather simple.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol 7/11/10. Reddish amber with a decent, off-white head. Biscuit malts, a touch of fruit and long, bitter finish. Ok, if a bit one dimensional.

Cask at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks 07-06-10 This did indeed pour chestnut in colour as the description suggested with an off white head, condition wise this was absolutely fine but taste wise not my bag at all. It was really quite malty but also bitter and fruity, maybe it was one of them days when you just want some light hoppy gold and refreshing beer I’m not sure but I do know that this didn’t really do it for me at all and even though I only had a half I was glad at the end.
