Ambiorix led a small Belgian tribe to victory over the Roman Empire. It was the greatest and most humiliating military defeat ever suffered by Julius Caesar and his soldiers. Our 100th brew—Centurion—is a collaboration to mark our second birthday. In the words of Caesar: "Horum omnium fortissimi sunt Belgae,"—"Of all these, the Belgians are the strongest." Centurion was brewed in collaboration with ‘t Verzet, Hof ten Dormaal and Armand Debelder. On a base of the soft, biscuity flavours of a relatively classic Saison malt bill (pils, munich, dark wheat, light wheat, barley flakes, oat flakes), we’re combining the citrus qualities of our yeast strain with the tropical and stone fruit juiciness associated with the “New England” moniker, not to mention its low bitterness, late and dry hop additions in huge quantities and fruit juice hop haze.

11/01/2019 - draught sample shared with rubin77 @BBP Taproom. hazy yellow, small white head. Nose is malts, bitter fruits, hops; Taste is malts, bit caramel, fruits, bitterness, bit spice. Nice

F: medium, white, average retention. C: pale gold, hazy. A: malty, spicy, citrus, grassy, tangerine, grapefruits, pine resin, tropical fruits. T: malty backbone, tangerine, orange, grapefruits, bit mango, pine resin, good balanced long lasting bitterness, medium body and carbonation, nice one, enjoyed, tasting sample shared with Bierridder_S @ as guest beer in BBP brewery.

Draft @ BXL Bee Fest 2018. Cloudy amber/blond colour. Rather fruity beer, nose of oranges, juicy hops. Rather bitter finish. Good.

Sampled @ BXL Beerfest 2018. A hazy deep golden beer with a mid-sized most good lasting off-white head. Aroma of floral hops, herbs, green tea and wheat malt. Taste of grassy bitter hops, green tea, lime, wheat malt.

Sample @ BXL BeerFest 2018, shared with Belgian RB crew, thanks. Dorée, col blanc. Arôme est bien houblonné pas mal d'agrumes et de tropical avec un petit retrait botanique le tout sur une neipa qui reste plaisante au niveau de la levure. Palais est malté fin sur base pils, amertume plaisante sous couvert d'agrumes rappel de c-hops dans une approche agrumes et tropical - ici le Ella, notes vertes, fruité tenace avec un léger effet belge sur la fin, sûrement sur l'usage d'une levure plus orientée sur de fins esters. Belle surprise.

7 3 7 3 14Draft at BXL Beerfest ‘18, Brussels. Fairly hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of grassy hops and green weeds. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Draught at BXL Beer Fest, Brussels.
Dark orange, hazy body, with a big, creamy, lacing, yellowish head.
Aroma of grains, spices, flowers, citrus, sweet juicy yellow fruits, some vanilla.
Tastes pretty similar.
Medium, a bit oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes dry, spicy, grainy, citric, a bit juicy, with some stone fruits.

Nice one. Interesting combination of the typical, spicy Saison aromas and juicy fruits. Drinks really fresh. Not outstanding, but well balanced and quaffable.
