Gravity cask at the Hog & Partridge, St Neots. Dark brown, ever so slightly translucent. Weakish smell: some berry, chocolate, aniseed. Taste is very sweet, with a heavy molasses flavour alongside confusing savoury yeast extract notes. Some hop bitterness in the aftertaste. Palette is weak and flat. Final verdict: the enjoyable taste cannot rectify other problematic aspects of this beer.

Half pint, cask by hand-pump at Treaty of Commerce. Deep ruby dark coloured body. Naked surface. Fair lacing. Modest smell of roasted malts. Mild semi-sweet taste of brown malts, a brief touch of tart berries towards the ending. Rather thin bodied. Average British mild (Lincoln 12.07.2014).

Tried at the CAMRA Lincoln beer festival 2014. Not a full rating as drunk as part of a whole day session. Recently tried at the brewery, and rating upgraded.

Cask at Baxter’s Court, JDW - London. Pours clear, red-brown with a creamy tan head. Bland aroma, some dark malts, rubber, hints of cocoa. Light sweet flavor, flat character, some tangy, semi-dark malts, vague berries, brown bread, dirty rubber bands. Light bodied with soft carbonation; the condition is poor. Bland finish punctuated by hints of offensiveness; some tang, mild rubber, leathery berries, earth. It seems like this is an average/mediocre beer in sub-par condition.
