Dark, rich & creamy, brimming with fruity flavours and nutty overtones from the charred Yorkshire malt. Unbelievably full bodied beer, it is packed with a roasted, crunchy biscuit character and subtle hop flavours creating a beer with a larger than life personality!

Cask at the Prince Arthur (JDW), Fleet. A attractive deep mahogany colour with a cherry red glint and a loose cream head; the aroma is rather tarry; soft, earthy and dry in the mouth with a hint of treacle; and a biscuity finish. A really good mild.

Hand-pulled half-pint in The Shrewsbury Hotel (Wetherspoons) on 28th Apr 2014. Creamy and smooth over roasted maltiness: Deep ruby red, almost black, with a tan head that produced some impressive heavy lacing. A very drinkable beer and another fine brew from Batemans. Difficult the believe the alcohol level is so low for such a rich and tasty beer.

Cask @ Victoria Hotel, Leeds. Nicholsons Beer Festival ale that is very dark with a small off-white head. Floral woody aroma and a bit watery for my liking. There’s some very light fruits.

Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly fresh finish. Overall - good mild. Tastes bigger than the percentage.

The York. Cask. Hazy amber beer, big pale cream coloured head. Palate is smooth and light with superfine carbonation. Smooth but dry malt, touch of cream. Trace of nuts. Tangy dried fruits. Light bitterness. Finishes light and dry. Comes together well despite the fact it was served at near room temperature.
