At a tasting, small stable creamy head, light hazy deep red color, aroma of vanila, spice and ripe red fruits, flavor of red fruits and apples with some woodiness, light sourness, nicely balanced, suprisingly fresh for a barley wine. Really nice and enjoyable.

Bottle. Dark copper color. Aroma of oak, red fruit, raisin, ripe fruit, caramel and vanilla. Taste has oaky red fruit, vinous tart, vanilla, caramel, raisin and a more bitter fruity finish. Needs to breath a little, gets a bit sweeter and fruity after a few minutes. Nice.

Bottle. Color: Copper, small very light brown head . Taste: Fruity, red fruit, more to the sweet side at the beginning. Turning to a more complex taste with more bitter and wood notes at the long lasting finish. Notes of the high alcohol volume and lightly hints of grapes, going to the wine and port side. Full body, medium to below medium carbonation. Dry mouthfeel. Pretty complex and unique.

Tap at Koht. Murky red colour, not much head. Aroma has some toffee but mostly red wine. Medium-bodied. Sweet, toffeish, lots of portwine. Smooth. Dessert brew.

Tap at Alehouse. Pours clear brown with a little head. Aroma is caramel, dark malts, port wine. Body is heavy, quite sweet with little carbonation. Soft bitterness, nothing to balance the sweetness. Intense, still port. Lingering sweet palate. Good.
