A sessionable take on a hopfenweisse, an inventive fusion between an IPA and a German wheat beer. A fave of beer writers and Saturday Kitchen.

330ml bottle [5.0% abv]. Minimally hazy, golden colour with huge, more scraggy than frothy, osteoporosing, minimally lacing, white head. Wheaty and citrusy hoppy aroma with a slightly soapy touch, yeasty spicy overtones. Taste is citrusy hoppy, notes of lemon and lemongrass, has wheaty and strawy passages, replaced by nice lemon notes. Slightly crude, immature, unbalanced. Meh.

Cask, 5 % abv, from the bar at the brewhouse in Hackney, one-third pint. Nice spotty lacing from a low white head. Wheat cloudy apricot coloured body. Mid sweet fruity aroma, hints of orange and spices. Ripe and spiced fruity flavours added by a touch of old books. Okay version of the style, medium bodied and quite sweet (London 26.09.2014).

Blond colour. Aroma of citrusy hops. Flavour is quite tart (Granny Smith apples). Intense, fruity hop flavour. Perhaps a bit too tart.

Cask - Wonderfully sweet tropical fruit and light banana. Cloudy gold with a decent white head. Tropical fruit and some light banana. Nice, but I think better on keg.
