Can at home thanks to Clark. Black bodied and frothy beige head. Nose is smoky ash, ham, chocolate, red fruit. Tastes of charred ash, dark chocolate, dried dates, some malt, bacon and woody. Creamy palate. Smoky finish.

16 oz can traded by Clarkvv. Disclaimer: I’m not a fan of smoked malt in anything. In the aroma it is ash and smoke. Luckily, in the flavor, the smoke is not obnoxious. Flavor of smoked meat, Ash, and smoky wood. I wish there was more malt. That’s here, but it is a lower ABV. Quite honestly, I really hate the style, so don’t even read my review.

Canned 4/21/25, drunk 7/2/25.
Certainly looks the part - full, well-retained, tan head and a dark, clear body.
As with the pale, the smoke is lovely. Ashy campfire, very woody and nicely dry. Tons of pepper and iodine-like character. Malts a bit timid, but there is some me chocolate, roast and toast.
My biggest qualm with the base dark lager was it's overabundance of dark malt. Here the smoke muddles the picture. Doesn't seem TOO big on the specialty malt, but then, doesn't seem too big on the base malt either. It is only 4%, so I don't expect the world, but maybe a bit more oomph from the texture would be nice. Carbonation is rather loose and vapid, as well. The smoke, like the pale, is wonderful.

Can, enormous thanks Gurthnar for saving this one to share for me! Blackish body, lasting off-white head, pretty big. Nutty notes in the aroma, prunes, smoke, smoked plums really, light roast. The taste is impressive too, bacon, nutty notes, nice roastiness, dates, creamy, lightly tart. Apart from the tartness, absolutely lovely, great job!

Can (4/21/25) from trade with ClarkVV--thanks, Clark! Opaque dark brown with light sparkle, large head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma is smoky, woody (campfire) roasted malt, very late hint of caramel. Taste follows aroma. Smooth, frothy, creamy texture, soft carbonation, finish as taste. Geez, this is like a Rauchbier.

Can via Pult, Prague, after PBF fest. Rather thin body, dry, medium carbonation. Quickly disappearing head, rather soapy big bubbles. Clear dark brown colour. Medium bitterness, low sweetness. Loads of smoked aroma and flavour, bacon, but also kinda oaky? I am new to alder smoke, but it is intense here, and very good, I love it. Beer overall easily drinkable, very tasty. Great.

.4l draft at Novare Res Bier Café in Portland, Maine. The pour is an opaque black, dark brown with a thick foamy 1 ½ inch head. Nice, coating lace. The aroma is big smoke, ham, and flint, The taste is a big round smoke, soft char, and the ham. Finishes with the mineral earth and more smoke. The palate is light bodied with fine carbonation and the drying smoke mineral finish. Well done, big campfire vibes.

Draft at Shelter pours a dark, translucent deep brown with a nice cap of foamy beige head. Nose is malty, nutty, cream soda but a nice earthy smoke. Flavor has a little rubbery character but you can look past it. Malty sweetness balances it so well. Long finish. Really w3ll balanced, as you'd expect.
