Bottle split at CBC Clerko, 15/04/15, thanks to Fergus. Lightly hazed orange amber with a big old light beige covering. Nose is earthy citric rinds, bitter orange, spice, straw, tangy orange, light bread. Taste comprises earthy hops, orange pith, spice, light bread dough, lemon rind, tangerine. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close peppered with earthy hops. Decent enough hoppy amber.

Bottle from Brewer’s Droop, Bristol. Deep and slightly hazy gold, with a frothy, off-white, head and moderate carbonation. Biscuity malts, some leafy hops, tangerine fruits, red berries and a dryish finish. Enjoyable.

Bottle at Trembling Madness, York. It pours clear deep amber with a decent white head. The nose is juicy, soft fruits, berry, stewed orange, orange chewits and rye bread. The taste is bitter, piney, resin, varnish, zesty orange, tangerine, resin, pepper and brown bread with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Rather flavoursome stuff. Works well.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at Oddbins Balham. Pours clear gold with a durable, frothy white head. The nose kind of reminds me of a hitter or ESB - some berries, twigs, crackers, grain. Light-medium sweet flavor with grainy bread, damp wood, leaves, leathery fruits. Light bodied with average carbonation. Some grain husk bitterness in the finish, toasty malts, leaves, earth, some citrus fruits, a bit of rind. Not bad.

Lightly hazy amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry. Modest fine carbonation. Light malts. Mild ripe orange then bitterness kicks in. Marmalade. Trace of lemon. Light dry finish. Decent if a bit dry and thin.

Bottle from Cornelius. Hazy ruby/amber body with a medium off-white head. Low carbonation. Nice lacing. Aroma of digestive biscuits, grass and yeast. Flavour of red fruits, red apple and bitter, earthy hops. Thin body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. Not what I was expecting - very crisp and refreshing (with the title Winter Oats, I was expecting rich, warming flavours).
