(Gravity cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 23 Nov 2012. Vintage 2008) Reddish amber colour with almost no head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of caramel, dried fruit and red berries. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, dried fruit, pears, peaches and a gentle bitterness that starts sweet and dries out towards the end. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Well balanced and quite nice.

Cask (2008) at the White Horse Parson’s Green. It pours hazy deep mahogany brown with a small off-white head. The nose is fruit cake, apricot, candied peel, caramel, scone and honey. The taste is fruit cake, honey, earth, apricot, citric edge, candied peel, icing sugar and alcohol with a warming finish. Medium-full body, soft carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Definitely drinks below the ABV. Smooth and easy going.

Cask at The White Horse Old Ale Festival, London. Vintage 2008. Pours clear copper with a fine, tan film. Big malt aroma with banana and other, semi-ripe fruits. Big sweet flavor, somewhat estery, with light caramel, more banana, bready malts. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly sticky to finish with further bready malts and banana. A very pleasant barley wine.
