Cask - Caramel and light grains, copper with a bubbly white head. Toffee and a chemical almost acetone flavor. Bitter and long finish. Not for me.

Cask at the brewpub, London. Pours clear, red-brown with a fine, white foam head. Toasty leafy nose, some brown bread. Great flavor, some dry and toasty brown bread and sugar, bitter leaves, earth and grass. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Dry finish, dark doughy toast, brown bread, leafy bitters, hints of baking cocoa, light earth. Extremely solid stuff. Not at all flashy, just does the little things well. Tons of character packed into this 3.8% brown bitter.

Cask at Tap East - 06/09/12. Clear copper with a minimal off-white head that soon cleared to nothing. Not a good looking beer - appeared flat and lifeless. Malt forward nose, grain, a little cheese. Malt flavour with a little toffee and slightl mineral tones. Medium bodied and moderate carbonatio leading to a bitter finish. Looked crap but turned out being a half decent bitter!

On cask @ the brewpub. Nice looking clear amber body with a moderate white head. Aroma has caramel malt and some fruity and floral hop aroma. Flavor is mild caramel malt, fruity and moderate bitter. Medium body and medium aftertaste with sweet malt and a light pleasant bitterness. A decent but quite average bitter.

On tap at Tap East. Clear amber beer, residual white head. Light palate, dry. Mild mild malt with fairly bitter hops (Williamette says brewer Jim Wilson). A little juicy citrus. Semi dry finish with lasting bitterness. Good flavour for itโ€™s modest abv (3.8%) but a little thin.
