A North Yorks version of the US West Coast hop-forward IPA. Bitterness is balanced by malt sweetness in our IPA and dry-hopping rounds out the aroma. Multiple hop types in this one, to justify the 'sunshine-in-a-glass' claim. Just what you need to brighten a grey winter (or even summer!) day!

Cask at Rutland Arms, Sheffield. Clear, orangey amber. Messy, bubbly, cream coloured head. Spicy, brûléed grapefruit. Light, earthy hop. Taste is fairly sweet. Chewy bitter. Palate is full, with some spiciness. Finishes bitter, with the sweetness hanging around. Tasty stuff.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Clear amber body with a medium off-white head. Low carbonation. Nice lacing. Aroma of sour grain, blood orange and tea. Flavour of orange marmalade, earth and bitter green hops. Sour finish. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. Very hoppy, but the bitterness verges into sourness. Improves as it warms.

Lightly hazy amber beer, small bubbly white head. Palate is smooth and slightly soft. Mild fine carbonation. Smooth light malt base, whisper of cream. Nice hops - juicy orange - tangerine - lemon. Mild hop sting. Little floralness. Comes together really well to a light finish. Mild fruity linger, Good stuff!

Amber-brown, thin head. Aroma has a lot of floral hop and the pale. Gets a bit syrupy on the palate, as stronger ales often do with cask.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, 9/1/2014. Golden with a decent, off-white head. Decent, hoppy beer with some citrus fruit, biscuity malts and a dryish finish. Good.

Small offwhite head quickly disappears. Clear amber body. Light nutty caramelly fruity aroma floral notes. Sweet-dryish nutty earthy caramelly taste with sugary musty notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish floral nutty aftertaste with musty earthy notes. It’s OK, but not an IPA. (0.5l bottle, from House of Trembling Madness, York.)
