Can at Shinshu Sake Mura. Dark amber colour with light golden creamy head. Aroma is slightly spicy, lots of malt, little bit of sweetness and some light citrus hop. Taste is salty caramel, slight hoppiness, fruity hints, strawberry maybe, biscuity finish with slight ginger taste. Quite interesting, and very easy to drink. Seems I like it more than everyone else.

Can shared during GBBF 2013 Day 4 - London. Big thanks to KyotoLefty. Pours clear amber with a light, white cream head. Nose of pine and bread - straight. Medium sweet flavor with notes of melon, pine and mild caramel. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Modest hop resins in the finish with more pine, faint caramel, bread. Tasty and nicely balanced if a bit simple.

Can thanks to KyotoLefty. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is orange sponge cake, light sweetness, faint citrus, toast and a hint of spice. The taste is bitter-sweet, earthy, brown bread, light spice, metallic and some bitterness towards the finish. Light-medium body and high carbonation. Ok, but not much going on.

Can, mail order from the brewery. Nice amber malt aroma, caramel and chocolate with good American hops. Orange, grass, earth. Medium brown-orange with a low head. Mild flavor, orange, pine, caramel. Decent bitterness. Nice but not all that special. Really could be hoppier.

350 yen can from Asahiya. Maybe as I’d just had the Echigo Red Ale I picked up on different things. 5.5% the color was virtually identical a nice clear amber though the head was off-white. The aroma was malty with a hint of skunky funk over some spiciness. A bit rougher malt character than Echigo with hints of grass/hay which makes me think they either used some pilsner malt or an adjunct. Much more hop forward with the malts taking a back seat, I think this is more my speed...
