Fat Sprat is brewed with Pale Ale malted barley, Munich, Cara and Black malt, with Columbus, English Goldings, Cascade and Chinook hops.
It has a lovely citrus, grapefruit aroma with some spicy notes. On the palate, the citrus character of the hops shines through, balanced with a light biscuit flavour and a crisp, dry finish.

Cask at Rose and Thistle, Frimley. Caramel aroma with a vegetable matter. Dark amber, bordering on just brown. Bubbly and blotchy off-white head..very light bitter with some hints of sweetness and an underlying umami. Mixed boiled veg. Light. Thin. Flat. Slightly astringent finish. Use to have a lot of time for this brewery but in the craft days I am finding their beers are average at best. And this isn't that good.

Mini keg at a springtime party in Brightlingsea. A typical session bitter with a good flavour of malt and bitter hops. This was the first time I tried a 5l keg and it was nice with a low carbonation. Very easy drinking and a perfect session bitter.

On cask at the Kenilworth. Appearance - golden amber with a nice lacy head. Nose - red and orange fruit. Light herbs. Taste - orange fruit again. Some redcurrants. Burnt nutty toffee. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture. The finish is dry and crunchy. Overall - good.

Handpull cask at the Castle, Cambridge. Light, thin, brownish red, clear. Tiny bit of white head. Light aroma of redcurrant, strawberry and spruce. Tastes pretty good as well: a sludgy malt sweetness lifted by a bright bittering hop. Finish is kind of acrid, and the body is oily with no perceptible carbonation. A mixed bag, and not Adnams’ best offering.

Cask-conditioned at the Rummer, Cardiff, 17/9/2015. Amber in colour, with a frothy, white, head. Aroma of oranges and caramel, with some leafy hops. Flavour was malty, with some red berry fruit and a decent, bitter, finish. Enjoyable.
