Cask at Craft Beer Co, Islington on 10th May 2015. Almost black with thin pale tan ring and spot lacing. Roasty aroma with lactic notes. Roasty malts in-mouth with herby, slightly savoury and creamy touches. Tangy finish developing into lengthy roast maltiness. Fair-bodied with a smooth mouthfeel.

On keg at the Hanging Bat. Appearance - dark brown to black and opaque. Nice head. Nose - chocolate and lime liqueur. Taste - big chocolate and lime again. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and an elegant finish. Overall - best beer in today’s visit.

Keg at the hanging bat. Pours hazy brown, nose is oyster I guess, roasted chocolate, taste is similar, dry.

Keg at the hanging bat. Pours dark brown, thick tan head. Aromas of fry’s chocolate limes, prunes, faint saline. Taste is roasted bitter, with a plummy backnote. Hangs together very nicely.

Cask at the Wellington; opaque black pour with a bubbly tan head, roast malt and coffee aroma, taste has coffee, dark berries, roast malts, a hint of chocolate.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; dark brown pour with a thin bubbly light brown head, aroma has iodine and roast malt, taste has umami with some roast malts, a hint of coffee.

Cask (handpump) @ Cock Tavern, 315 Mare Street, Hackney, Greater London, England E8 1EJ. [ As Hammerton Pentonville ].Clear dark red brown color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate, raisin, plum. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, chocolate, dark fruit, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20140806]

330ml bottle bought at Sourced Market, St Pancras. Jet black body. Bubbles on a naked surface. Spotty lacing. Rich cocoa powder on the nose. Coffee grounds, dough and salty taste profile. Slightly roasted ending. Medium bodied. Vivid stout (shared on the East Midland train to Derby 20.02.2015).

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 30 Nov 2014) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with chocolate, coffee, dark bread and prunes. Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, toasty malt, dark bread, a touch of coffee, prunes and a balanced cacao bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well made stout. Nice one.

From cask. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty, chocolate and dark breadish. Bitter, toasted and light breadish. Chocolate and dark malty. Bitter and roasted dark into a smooth breadish dark malty finish.
