Pint can from The Beer Trappe, 4/23/23. Last beer of the night before I get to NC! 15 to go to 1000 NC ticks. Now 14. BRING IT! Killing it tomorrow. Dark brown, large tan head, good retention. Aroma of toffee, cherry, caramel, herbal, anise. Taste is strong herbal notes, toffee, resin, cherry, citrus, whiskey. Full bodied, mild booze, lingering herbal. Solid.

Not sure what the hell this beer is, but it certainly doesn’t taste like a Manhattan. Floral notes and orange zest sit on top of caramel and an herbal undertone, but nothing is pronounced. Just a weird strong ale, I guess. Eh.

Pretty art pint can from Appalachian Vinter. Goblet @home. Pours a dark amber, almost saffron color out the can. In the glass it looks darker & hazy, a pecan or cola nut brown. Lacey oatmeal head lingers like spittle. A little too roasty for a Manhattan, but there's lovely medicinal, faux vermouth add to this. Dark, macerated cherry & a bit of pith bitterness. Taste is lighter, still a bit too roasty, but the acidity picks up. Frothy, consistent, full but soft carb. Slightly honey & herbal sweet. Orange & spicy rye, lingering licorice & Dr Pepper. Can't pick up any cherry sadly. As it warms, the rye really picks up & thins out the brew, becoming lovely. Drinks pretty good.
