Estonians are rye nation. This grain was sacred to us already when the rest of the world considered rye to be a weed. We did live together with the grain after all. The threshing barn was the most important building in the farm – the sheaves were dried on the poles, threshing was done on the floor and in the chambers our ancestors grew up. The crown jewel of the threshing barn was the large barn oven. It warmed the chambers, cooking pots were simmering on its flames and deep in the belly of the oven the good black rye bread was baked.

Large Barn Oven is a rye stout which glows with the warmth of the barn oven and dignity of old times. Maybe you can fit around the Large Barn Oven to chat even nowadays, who knows.

Bottle, thanks Raul. Smells boozy and rich. Liqueur like. Taste is good, rich again, caramel but slightly bitter. Get the chocolate and roast thing coming through. Slight sourness, but with big brown sugar sweetness. Interesting

330ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige head. Dusty, chocolately aroma, hints of cocoa, molasses, a touch of liquorice. Taste is moderately sweet malty, hints of liquorice and molasses, a touch of cocoa, some warming alcohol in the finish.

Pours dark brown from the bottle and leaves a finger thick tan head. The aroma is chocolate with vinous notes. Taste is bittersweet, with notes of chocolate, black bread, and brown sugar. Thick, warming, with some light touches of alcohol near the finish, but not enough to ruin the overall experience. Good.

Bottle. Black colour, small beige head that does not stay long. Aroma is intensive dark chocolate, a bit of ash, warming alcohol. Medium bitterness. Full body, soft carbonation, smooth. Nothing spectacular, but it’s a solid imperial stout.
