Bottle. Pours ruby-brown, semi clear with a mild white head. Malt and sugar aroma. Brown sugar, dark malts, toffee and ripe fruits abound in the sweet flavor. Also some light roasted malt and nutty notes. Medium in body with smooth carbonation. Sweet finish with some tingly bubbles, as well as candied sugar and dark malts. Quite good.

Re-rate 4/17/11: Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks Oren. Amber color. Malty, caramelly aroma with cookies, a bit of honey, floral notes. Sweet malty flavor. 7/3/6/3/13=3.2
Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks Shachar. Beer of the Month club. Clear deep reddish-amber. Aroma of malt, some toastiness and light alcohol. Sweet malty flavor with caramel, molasses hints, light fruitiness and slightly bitter finish. Medium-bodied. 6/3/6/3/13=3.1

12oz bottle from my beer of the month club. Pours a totally transparent, copper, mahogany with a very tight, slim ring of white head. Aroma of raisins, toffee, pears. Flavor of raisins, a little banana, caramel, prunes, dark fruits, a little tart fruit, a little rum. Finish is medium bodied with this strange, stale, alcohol finish. This was a little weak for the style, and not bad, just forgettable.

12 oz bottle into mug. Aroma is of sweet yams. Pours brown with minimal head and mediocre lacework. Taste is raisin bread with abundant cinnamon, malt, alchohol. Sweet, then a bitterness which lingers. Aftertaste is alcoholic; slightly burns and a little tart. Carbonation is medium. Head and lacing disappear halfway through the glass, disappointingly. Overall, a pleasing but definitely not extraordinary dopplebock.

Pour is a tea looking brown with a large tan head. Aroma is plenty of sweet malts with a bit of molasses. Flavor is lots of sweet caramel malts followed by a bit of raisons and other dark fruits. Finish leaves a little gingerbread on the tounge. An ok dopple.

From my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a red-caramel color with a small tan head. The aroma was sweetish and malt with notes of molasses, caramel and light fruity hops. The flavor was bitter, sour and malty with a faint vegetal presence and moderate fruity hops. A light presence of molasses surrounds. Long sour and malty finish. Moderately full bodied. Interesting.

Bottle Pours out a brown with some red highs topped with a tan head. Aroma of sweet malts. Tast a little more of the sweetness. Also little fruit and spice.
