Tap. Pours clear chestnut, small beige head, some lacing. Hard to tell; silly plastic cups. Aroma is Belgian spices, clove, raisin, dark fruits, banana, allspice. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter. Medium body. Pretty standard double territory.

Keg at the brewery. It pours clear deep brown with a medium beige head. The aroma is rich, sweet, malt - driven, dried fruits, fruit cake, toffee, candy and spice. The taste is pretty bitter up-front, wood, resin, peppery spice, booze, leather, toasted nuts, fruit cake with a dry, warming finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Not a huge amount of depth and more bitterness and booze than I was expecting. Pretty all-right overall anyhow.

4 oz sample glass at the 8th Wonder Brewery in Houston, Texas. The pour is a clear golden copper with a minimal off white head. The aroma is clove yeast, spice and sweet malt. The taste is the semi sweet malt up front, Belgian yeast and spice carries the middle and finishes with clove. The palate is medium to heavier bodied with soft carbonation and the yeasty sweet finish. Solid for style.
