Aged on bourbon barrels.

Klassifikation: Fatlagrad imperial stout

Bottle @ home, courtesy of Swedish friends. Thanks Alex and Thomas! Pours a black appearance with a nice sized brown head. A bit tangy fruity, plum, raisin, fig, big anise, roasty malty aroma. Kind of bitter and strangely cloying syrupy sugary, dark chocolate, light vanilla, big raisin/dark grape/anise flavor. I really didn’t get any bourbon in this. Pretty similar to the non-barrel aged version.

First rating33 cl bottle ordered by the single bottles from Systembolaget. BB 140912, sampled on November 9, 2012.Very dark brown color, small light brown head. Sweet, alcohol, chocolate, smoke scent. Sweet, alcohol, acidic, dry, grainy taste. Dry, grainy aftertaste. Warming alcohol. Medium to smooth mouthfeel, medium high bitterness.Feels rather young, for my taste needs to rest a bit and smooth off the hard alcohol edges.7/3/6/4/13=3.3Rerate33 cl bottle from Systembolaget, got it last year with the bottle from my first rating. (Draught at Kaisla, 20121103) The beer poured black. Its head was small and light brown. Aroma had roasted malts, liquorice and wood. Palate was full bodied, warming and dry with quite high carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, vineousness, wood, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was woody, vineous and roasty. Not so good as the normal version and especially the palate was quite weird with the high biting carbonation.

(Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 29 Sep 2012) Dark brown colour, almost black, with brief beige head. Malty, fruity nose with dried fruit, chocolate, a touch of coffee and vanilla. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dried fruit, chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar and a gentle, spicy bitterness in the finish. Full body, with a certain sweetness (but not overly sweet). Chewy and almost oily mouthfeel. Very nice. (7/4/8/5/15=3.9) Rerate: (Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 17 Oct 2014) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, dried fruit, chocolate, vanilla and hints of whisky. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, coffee, dried fruit, a touch of whisky, oak wood, liquorice and a balanced roasted bitterness in the finish. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Very tasty, and in excellent balance, with alcohol fairly well hidden. Excellent beer!

Pours pitch black with a foamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla, oak and sourish notes. Taste is sweet and woody with notes of roasted malts, hints of vanilla and sourness. Finish is sweetish and slightly roasty. Unbalanced imperial stout, a lot worse than the regular one.
