Can shared at CBJ - picked up from Clapton Craft. Pours clear red-gold with a foamy, off-white head. Medium sweet flavour with notes of pine, sun-kissed malts, orange peel, earth, a few leaves. Medium to full bodied with fine o average carbonation. Lightly resinous finish, nicely rich malts, toasted grains, semi-ripe citrus. Really nice, old-school stuff.

Bottleshare at Craft Beer Junction. Thanks to LKS for the can. Just a light haze on this amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Airy palate, semi dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Bready and slightly stale tasting malts, rich though. Caramel and toffee into good ripe dried fruits. A little spice on the finish. Old skool barleywine. Decent.

Keg at the hanging bat. Pours deep amber, nose is caramel, raspberry, marzipan, taste is sweet, fruity, toffee, quite bitter in the finish, too bitter for a barleywine really.

On keg at the Hanging Bat. Appearance - amber to brown and murky. Thin beige head. Nose - brown bread and burnt toffee. A bit tight. Taste - chewy, sweet toffee. Marmalade. Thick shred. Palate - medium bodied, long zesty finish. Overall - it started slow, it grew on me, then it was great.

Can from Fierce, Aberdeen. It pours hazy rich mahogany brown with a yellowy - beige head. The aroma is sweet - sour, caramel, toffee crisp, loads of dried fruits, raisin, sultana, dried cherry, nut, banana bread, fruit loaf, toasty, woody and brown bread. The taste is initially dry, woody, toasty, earthy, sweet - sour, toasted brown bread, light tannin, toothy, leather, sour dried cherry, raisin, sultana, grape skin, prickly spice, sappy, oily, resinous, brown bread, vinous, fortified wine, sherry - like character and boozy warmth with a drying, vinous finish. Fulsome body, fine+ carbonation and lively, massaging carbonation. Almost has a Gales Prize Old Ale about it. Really grew on me.

On tap. Pours a deep mahogany color with light head. Aromas of dry caramel, raisins and toasted malts. Flavors of toasted malts, semi dry raisins with almost a bit of sourness, copper and a bit of oak. Not what I was expecting based on previous review.

Can from the Green Goddess, Blackheath Royal Standard. Mahogany coloured pour with a beige head. Nose is caramel, red fruits, oak, toffee apple, dried fruit. Taste is much the same. Kick of bitterness in the close. Rich, warming and very tasty brew.
