Dan's Stag. Brewhouse. Bristol. Keg. Hazy amber beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and fairly dry, modest fine carbonation. Caramelly malts, lightly tangy. Ripe fruits. Ripe citrus peel. Modest spice. Dry finish. Okay.

Keg at the source. It pours clear deep red - brown with a small tan head. The aroma is earthy, toasty, sweet, oily, treacle, dried fruits, herbal and wood. The taste is dry, bitter, oily, sticky, toffee, treacle, booty alcohol, wood, leather, tannin and spice with a chewy finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not bad, but not quite as good as its namesake...

Keg at the brewpub. Pours deep brown with a creamy tan head. The nose holds dark malts, brown bread, berries. Light-medium sweet flavour with more tangy dark berries, a little butntnroffee. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, subtly warming, more dark malts and ripe, dark berries. Not bad.
