Bottle from the Grumpy Goat in Reading. Drunk on the evening aftet Scotland voted to stay in the UK to toast both sides in the debate on a superbly fought campaign and on showing the world that the UK does democracy properly! Love the label design. Pours red with a thin but lasting white head and a light fizz. Nice whiff of fruit and toffee. It tastes rather old and dusty up front but spice and a little sweet banana come through. However, I don’t like the rather cloying mouthfeel, and afterva dry finish it leaves a rather unpleasant sour and bitter finish. Disappointing, and the more I drink the less I like it. Wish I’d had a Brewdog for this toast instead.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - a nice colour somewhere between amber andBelgian style. Nose - stewed fruits and toffee. Actually more into fudge. Taste - definitely fudge with more red fruits. Palate - medium bodied with a big sweet tangy texture and a finish that couldbbe fresher. Overall - not what I expected. Makes me think of bitter or Scottish Ale rather than a belgia

330ml bottle. Pours dark reddish brown with cream head. Malty aroma, taste is dark fruits, sweet malts, rusty figs, spice & caramel. Not entirely sure it gells too well but an interesting feisty beer nonetheless.

Bright clear amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and crisp and dry. Twangy oxidised tasting thin malts. Little thin malt cream. Ripe dried fruits. Finishes light and dry. A curious beer, it has flavour but also is a lot like something very old and obscure from the dustiest corner of the Kuliminator cellars!

Bottle at home. It pours deep red with a frothy beige head. The nose is bruised banana, over-ripe, spice, dark fruits, rice puddings. The taste is sweet, dried berry, dark fruits, spicy, warming alcohol, banana bread, toffee and mouldy wood with a short, sort of sweet finish. Medium body and low carbonation. Yeah not great.... A disappointment from these guys.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Pours clear copper-red, thick off-white head. Aromas of Belgian yeast & spice, peppery and fruity. Taste has more of the same, perhaps a touch of chalkiness. Spicy and yeasty to the end, nice.
