Bottle shared late night during RBWG 2015. Pours Deep brown with a creamy tan head. Well toasted malts in the aroma, light cocoa, burnt cereal. Medium sweet flavor with basic milk chocolate, low bitterness. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. More toasted cereal on the nose, dusty chocolate, burnt leaves. Not bad.

Bottle at home, thanks to JF, 29/03/14. Light black with a good sized tan covering. Nose is tarte fruit rind, charred wood, dank notes, tobacco, light spice. Taste comprises caramel, brown sugar, light cocoa, tangy woody licks. light plummy notes and dark fruit.. Medium bodied, fine carbonation. Nice beer but more a sweet stout or stout, not feeling the saison, dark or otherwise!

Almost opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth with fine carbonation. Very light spice. Slight dark malt vibe. Little toffee - treacle and bruised fruit. Fairly dry finish. Tasty but not seducing me.

Paid$ 9.04 for a 22 oz. bottle from Winooski Beverage Warehouse. Snifter displays a pitch black color with a thin ring of egg shell white colored head. Nose is chocolate, light barnyard notes and an Earthy spice. Taste is mostly the same with light traces of funk and yeast. The roasted malt seems to take over most of the palate. Medium body, light or nearly flat carbonation. It makes me think more of a Belgian stout rather than a Saison. Interesting brew and better than other “Black Saison’s” I’ve sampled.
