Hand-pulled third of a pint on 18th October 2024, in the Cordwainer. Amber/mid-ruby brown, beige head of weak bubbles. Strange one, like a really weak Cadbury's Fruit and Nut bar, but not as sweet or tasty.

Cask at Wheatsheaf, Stoke on Trent. Pours a dark ruby with a small cream head. Only a weak slightly fruity and malty aroma. In the mouth it is quite sweet with malts prominent but also some underlying hoppy bitterness. Flavour has apples and hints of cloves to start and traces of plums and blackberries later. Finish is slightly dry. This is eminently drinkable, but not a brown ale – more of a bitter I would say.

On cask at the SO. Appearance - deep amber to brown, some autumnal red in there. Thin beige head. Nose - caramel, toffee and orange shred. Taste - chewy toffee and orange again. Palate - close to medium bodied, tangy and bittersweet middle and finish. Overall - liked this one. Not in any way a brown ale. Hmm.!
