Keg at the Cock Tavern - Hackney, London. Pours lightly hazy gold with a fine, white cream head. Drying citrus fruit aroma, faint pale malts, some dough, hints of pee. Light to medium sweet flavor with mellow bready pale malts, light lemon, grapefruit and tangerine. Light bodied with average carbonation. Clean finish, light doughy pale malts, further citrus. Good stuff. Easily drank.

Bottle at the brewery, thanks to Paul. Pours hazy gold with a fine, frothy white head. Aroma holds lots of dried citrus, rind, light pee, tangerine. Light to medium sweet flavor, mild bitterness, lemon rind, tangerine, some sand, hay. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Great balance. Mild dryness to finish, dried lemon, straw. Super.

500ml bottle. Hazy golden amber colour, foamy white head leaving some lacing and aroma of juicy tropical fruits, grapefruit citrus & some yeasty notes. Taste is malt caramel, with mango, passionfruit, grapefruit, orange, pine resin and a lingering earthy hop bitterness. Creamy mouth feel, light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry bitter finish. Very drinkable.

Bottle from Birratrovo, Como; bottled 19.03.2013 bb 19.07.2013, 2 months old
Hazy golden to amber color, with generous head. Very nice aroma, powerful, with citrus fruits, lemon, and hop resins; also a touch of spicy yeast, a bit feety. The mouthfeel is very dry; with some malt flavor, there is a strong hopping, both resiny and fruity (bitter oranges and some lemon); the yeast character is strong too.
Pleasant, but without the fresh character that I would like, and a bit unclean.

(Bottle.) Opaque straw-coloured beer. Grassy, grapefruit aroma. Mild, hoppy flavour that if anything could do with tasting a bit stronger. As you’d expect if you’ve had other citras, there’s a big citrus/grapefruit influence on the flavour along with the hops. Not the best I’ve had of this sort but very drinkable none the less.

Bottle bought at Beer Boutique, Putney, London. A hazy golden coloured pour with a healthy white head on top. Lovely hoppy, rich tropical fruit aroma. Tastes hoppy, rich tropical fruit, orange and grapefruit, pine, slight bitterness. This was a lovely fresh APA that I could drink all evening. Really moreish. Excellent.

Bottle at home after a hard days work, 06/04/13, from the brewery bottled 11/03/13. Hazy pale golden with a thin off white head that dissipates to a film. Nose is juicy tropical fruits, mango, orange pith, grapefruit, fresh hops, light pine. Taste comprises bitter sweet grapefruit, orange sherbet, light mango, residual sugars, citrus, pale malts, hops, pine needles, mineral notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation pitched perfectly, hop bitterness in the finish. Top draw - I can’t recall a better pale from the Kernel!

Bottle at Kernel as "Pale Ale Citra Simcoe Ahtanum". It pours hazy gold with a medium white head. The nose is orange squash, sweet tangerine, orange chewits and playdough. The taste is pithy citrus, orange, tangerine, sherbet, earth, dough and pine with a dry, rather bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Smooth, bitter yet well balanced and massively drinkable. One of Kernel’s best APAs of late.
