Cask at the craft beer co Clerkenwell. A mostly clear dark orange amber coloured pour with a lasting loose beige head. Aroma is layered nutty / toasted malts, earthy twiggy notes with some brown sugars, and some woodland berries. Flavour is composed of semi sweet toasted nutty malts, bitter earthy dirty finish, bark and hints of earthy coffee. Palate is semi sweet, moderate cask condition. OK.

Half, cask ale as Altered State American brown ale at Craft Beer Co, Islington. Disappearing beige head, fair lacing. Crystal clear dark brown coloured body with ruby highlights to it. Fruity caramel on the nose. Malt-fruity taste of nuts, chocolate and some dried fruits. Roasted bitter ending even with a backdrop of fruit. Soft carbonated. Good drinking (London 23.09.2014).

Cask @ Jolly Butchers, Stoke Newington. Pours brown with nice off-white head. Taste is hoppier than I expected with a graininess to it’s caramel malt character. Tasty.

(Cask at Cock Tavern, Hackney, London, 21 Nov 2013) Brownish amber colour with foamy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of caramel, toasty malt, dark fruit, prunes and raisins. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, dark fruit, prunes, raisins, orange peel, crisp-bread and a balanced spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Quite complex and tasty. Nice one.
