Gravity cask at GBBF 2013, Session 1 - London. Pours clear, red-brown with a creamy beige head. The nose has fruits and bacon along with smoked malts. Light-medium sweet flavour with dry chocolate and some bacon bits. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Dry finish with more dry bacon bits and mellow roast. Novel. Good effort.

Cask at Brains Bar, GBBF 2013. Deep dark brown coloured body. Not much head or lace. Chocolate malty nose with a smoked afterglow. Flavours of bacon and chocolate. Malt-porky ending. OK, but one drink was enough for a while (London Olympia 13.08.2013).

Cask at Bree Louise. Pork and Chocolate. Hm... Firstly the aroma had a real crispy pork rind thing going on, didn’t really get any chocolate. On tasting, I got no bacon, no chocolate but very distinct rye and roasted malt flavours. Not my cup of tea at all. And made the young girl behind the bar feel "very ill" after tasting it with me. A shame as previous Brains craft offerings have been superb.

Cask at GBBF 2013. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is chinese-style sticky pork, bacon frazzles, light sweetness, soy sauce and toasted sesame. The taste is smokey bacon, frazzles, sticky pork, earth, mild acidity, soy and sesame. Medium body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Surprisingly it actually works. Fun to try. Nice work Brains!

GBBF Day 1. Opaque dark brown beer, little pale tan head. Smell like a barbeque! Light dry palate, modest carbonation. Light malt with what tastes like smoky bacon crisps but without that artificial twang you get from flavouring, here it’s natural. Smooth finish. Very different and kudos to Brains form trying this. A real fun beer!
