Deep dark brown coloured body with a muddied, but still clearish light brown glow and a thinnish, single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of raisins, prunes, light nuts, some earth and a dash of grapes, all with a touch of a bitter coffee scent at the end. Light to Medium-bodied; Very subdued but noticeable coffee and chocolate come through at first with more of a pervasive and deep roasted malt and prune flavour with some softer raisin, grape and vanilla notes at the end, but this hits more of the bitter flavours at first and ends with a hint of sweetness, but all dry throughout. Aftertaste shows the sweetness and bitterness both equally balanced with a dry hay and malty note at the end, but this is very easy drinking, even for a fairly typically easy-drinking style. Overall, nice to sample this over here, but of course, not my favourite Guinness, even close to it, even on this continent, but it was nice to try. I sampled this 330 mL bottle purchased from World Liqour Mart in Daimon, Tokyo, Japan for 267JPY a few minutes ago on 04-August-2019 sampled in my hotel room here in Tokyo. Wo

Bottle, Narita Airport. Can’t imagine this is much different from the other 5% versions in Asia. Dark brown with a thick head. Like chocolatey, fudgey nose, showing sweetness. On the palate, light and lagery, with some vague molasses and chocolate syrup notes. Mellow, standard Guinness, really.

Bottle served in a pint glass. Happy St-Patrick’s Day! I can’t believe I haven’t rated this before... OK first off the label while in Japanese clearly states country of origin as Ireland so I doubt this was brewed by Kirin or at least not my bottle possibly it was brewed there in the past but I don’t think it is any longer. Dark cola brown pour that’s deep inky black in the class with a ruddy brown head of foam. The nose is sweet dark molasses, nutty & dark chocolate. Med-light bodied with a slightly rough carbonation - much nicer on draft. The taste is molasses, roasted barley, and chocolate. A classic but I’ve grown beyond it.
