Special: Imperial Smoked Porter 731 dagen gerijpt op Old Forester bourbon. Door de lange rijpingstijd heeft het bier veel tannines opgenomen. Aroma’s van rook en vanille met een verrassende complexe smaak van tannine, vanille, bourbon, drop en salmiak. Een mooie, zeer lange afdronk van bourbon.
Zwarte Ziel verwijst naar de bijna zwarte kleur van het bier en de rokerige tonen in het bier. Niet geschikt voor tere zieltjes!

Bottle. Dark chocolate,vanilla, coconut and a hint of licorice in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with coconut, tobacco, vanilla and bourbon. Has dried a bit due to the long barrel aging. Still a complex and delicious beer. Short aftertaste with tobacco.

330 ml bottle. Pours black with short head. Aromas of oaky bourbon, light chocolate, nuts and slick roasted malts. Flavors follow same with emphasis on clean oaky bourbon plus dark sugar and a bit of cocunt. Maybe a bit long in the barrel but still excellent

Tap at Grote Kerk. Deep dark brown with thin tan head. Big sweet deep roasted chocolate malts, massive bourbon, oak, esters, booze. Big sweet and bitter, light sour fruity red wine notes. 8 3 8 4 16Draft at The Hague festival ‘18. Black with a ring tan head. Aroma of big oak barrel, bourbon, blackberry, toffee and vanilla. Flavour is heavy sweet. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle sampled at NBPF. Almost black with dark beige head. Strong sweet bourbon, lots of blackberries and red currant, vanilla pudding, light smoke, toffee, alcohol, caramel. Over medium sweet, medium bitter and light tart. Full bodied with slick feel and soft carbonation. Quite nice.

Bottle. Black pour. Delicious aroma of strong caramel fudge, chocolate, bourbon vanilla and red fruit. Rich taste of caramel fudge, buttery toffee, red fruit, thick bourbon vanilla, some smoke, oak, chocolate and a long heavy bourbony finish. Insane on the barrel, but really delicious.

Bottle. Color: Black, thin beige head. Aroma: Whiskey, green apple. Taste: Moderate sweet, roasted malt, notes of green apples (again), whiskey, peat and hints of vanilla. Over medium body, average carbonation. Slightly tingling on the tongue. Bit boozy. Just like many other Jopen BA beers the barrel aging is overwhelming the base beer, but still pretty enjoyable.
