Earl Of Essex. Cask. Clear bright red - amber beer, residual white head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Pretty low carbonation. Very light red berry fruits and mild malt dust. Whisper of marmalade. Light semi dry finish. Some carbonation would have elevated this no end.

Cask, Kazimier Garden, Liverpool. Reddish amber looks with a small off-white head. Sweet malts, fruit and a little hop presence in the nose. Flavour was similarly malt driven with earth and fruit notes . The hoppage rescues affairs from the abyss of mediocrity. Decent enough bitter finish. On the right lines.

Cask at the Earl of Essex, 19/09/13. Lightly hazed reddish amber with a moderately sized off white head that dissipates edgeward. Nose is biscuit malt, orange, grass, a little subdued. Taste comprises red grapefruit, light mineral notes, orange pith, caramel malts, biscuit notes, hint of Ribena berry. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light hop bitterness in the finish. Ok hopped up cask number.

Cask at Lyric, Soho. It pours hazy amber with a medium off-white head. The nose is bitter-sweet, wood, brown bread, citrus fruits and faint jamminess. The taste is wood, earthy, varnish, resin, grapefruit zest and leaf with a pretty bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Good level of bitterness, but fairly one-dimensional. OK.

On cask at Harbour Bar, Kirkcaldy - Nice dark amber body, thin white head. Nose is robust malt, bit of acidic citrus there too. Taste is a good well-rounded kick of hops, Good long finish too. Very good.
