Can. A real innovation brew this, as one of the big Norwegian macro breweries steps outside their light Nordic lager comfort zone. How goes this, I wonder? It looks nice as it pours clear golden with a finger thick head. It smells nice as well with a hoppy aroma with pine, orange peel apricots and some nice balancing caramel malts. And it even tastes nice with a bitter flavour of pine and oranges, as well as caramal malts with toffee. A small step for human kind, but a giant leap forward for Hansa and the Norwegian macro brewing business.

I ettersmaken dukker appelsin opp igjen. Hansa er virkelig på sporet nå, med denne og hvete spesial. Godsak på boks som jeg kjøper igjen.

Can. A crystal clear dark golden beer topped by a dense, off-white head that lasts. Some lacings occur. The aroma escaping the glass was at first filled with pine cones and peaches, then some more malty notes showed up, but most of it was gone in seconds. A pity if you ask me, because they were very pleasant. It’s still pleasant after thirty seconds, but it’s so weak. It’s medium bodied and soft on the palate, with flavors of pale malts, some crystal malt and a decent bitterness. Pine cones and some peaches too. Quite long and drying finish, even though the initial flavor felt a tad too sweet. Overall, a nice beer indeed, but it lacks a bit to raise any interest with me. First of all it lacks on aroma and hoppy flavors, but then it’s only 4.5% ABV so I won’t complain too much. Anyway, it’s certainly one of the most interesting Norwegian beers available in grocery stores, and the price wasn’t bad either. 130922

500 ml can, from SPAR Hana. ABV is 4.6%. Clear deep golden colour, moderate white head. Pleasant aroma and flavour of fruity American hops, notes of oranges. A nice grapefruity and piney bitterness in the finish. This beer should be classified as an APA rather than an IPA, but who cares, as long as it tastes good? Remarkably decent beer coming from a Norwegian macro brewery, well balanced. Will definitely buy again.

500 ml can. Clear golden body with a big, foamy white head. Nice citric fruity aroma, slightly grassy and a little hint of caramel. Flavor is medium sweet, soft, light malt with lots of citric fruit the cascade way, some bitterness and a light malty background. This is rather light and refreshing American pale ale with the hop aromas in focus. Nothing really complex but for sure a refreshing beer and not to forget a useful crossover beer for the lager boys that’s normally a bit shy for other flavors than the old familiar local pilsner.

50cl can from Rimi Storo. Pours clear deep golden with a white head. Moderate hoppy aroma with citrus, tropical fruits and malt. Moderate sweet with mild, but nice fruity flavours and a quite balanced bitterness. Better than expected and very drinkable. Nice to finally have a hoppy beer with very wide distribution (it’s even available at my local Coop Marked). Nice surprise!

17.09.2013, 0,5l can @ home:
Nice creamy longlasting head. Aroma is very mild, slightly fruity, light malts, leafs, hop pellets, newy cut lawn, sap, caramel. Taste is very mild, light malts, leafs, newly cut lawn, sap, some hops, caramel. Medium bitterness. Nice try, but I’d rather call this an APA, and still the score wouldn’t be very much higher.
