Brainless® Belgian just got corrupted with hops! Brainless®: Corruption is our second collaboration beer with DC Brau (the first was Fermentation w/o Representation). DC Brau and Epic, both honored with invitations to SAVOR(SM), will be serving this beer in Washington DC as a celebratory beverage during the craft beer and food event in June. We brewed our award winning Brainless® Belgian Golden Ale and let DC Brau corrupt it with four types of hops, including the fruity Citra in the dry hop. Brainless®: Corruption starts out with a wonderful aroma of pineapple, hops and tart fruit. On first sip you taste that familiar cotton-candy and bubble gum sweetness of Brainless® that quickly gives way to a hoppy storm of tropical fruit and tart citrus that lingers on the tongue.
Note: the only way to identify this beer is near the ABV marking where is says Corruption.

Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013. It pours hazy golden yellow with a medium white head. The nose is sweet pine, orange, apricot, mango, passion fruit, earth and sherbet. The taste is bitter-sweet, pine, orange, mango, apricot, passion fruit, straw, hay and earth with a smooth, bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Smooth, mellow, well-balanced and damn tasty.

Big thanks to douglas88 for sending me this, just cause he’s a cool cat! The 22oz bomber pours clear deep gold with a lasting tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a nice earthy hop note as well as some lime, tangelo and a modest degree of spicy Belgian yeastiness. The taste delivers solid and pleasing earthy hop notes, earthy hop spiciness and then for a nice balance some tangelo to lime like citrus hop goodness. Like the nose there’s a modest Belgian yeast spiciness in the background mingling with a touch of sugary malt sweetness that adds just the right body to the experience.

4oz pour at Meridian Pint, pours a hazy, deep yellow with some rocky, white head. Nose is sugary, estery, candy sugar, clove. Flavor is sweet, estery, tropical fruit, some banana. Slick, full bodied finish. I am not a huge fan of the Epic Beglian yeast strain.

On tap. Pours with a hazed golden hued body with a very large white head. Great lace and full retention. Aromas are hoppy, citrusy, pineapple, grassy, herbal. Quite hoppy. Mild phenol, very light unripe banana, some lightly bready malt notes. Floral. Flavors are mild isoamyl acetate (banana ester), bitter, citrus, grassy, pineapple, floral. Under-ripe mango. Medium esters. Lively bubbles, lots of hops, pretty dry, medium alcohol. Lasting grassy notes.

Bomber from the Brewery. Pours a very cloudy orange color with a large white head. A sweet nose of oranges, some yeast and banana esters. A really rich flavor some heavy banana esters, candy, rich citra, very rich oranges and lemon, light bitterness, big sweet fruity hops. Quite good, very quaffable and mellow. This works quite well.

22oz bottle (Release #1) from the brewery
Appearance: Pours slightly cloudy golden with a medium sized off-white head and good lacing
Aroma: Grapefruit, pineapple, yeasty and pepper
Taste: Biscuity, yeast, tropical fruits with a bitter citrus finish
Very nice, smooth, crisp and enjoyable. I’m not a fan of Hopped up BSA’s but this one could change my mind.
