Bottled. A pitch black beer with thin beige head. The aroma has strong notes of wood, roasted malt, coffee, and alcohol reminding me of bourbon. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, wood, and some coffee, leading to a very dry roasted finish, where a bit of bourbon shines thru. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of TheCheeseMan. Pours black and opaque with a small and dissipating light brown head. Dark, dried fruits in the nose with some vanilla and alcohol. Solid body, low in carbonation, vanilla and hard roasted malts but the sweet dried fruits dominate. Sweet and warming acohol in the finish. 280110

Sampled at the Boise tasting 1/16/10
Appearance: Thick black with a beige head
Aroma: Dark fruits, chocolate, alcohols
Taste: Hot alcohols, chocolate, roasted malts
Of the nights tasting, this had the hottest alcohols on the tongue at first but then mellowed out in the finish.

Update Dec 23rd, 2010 With extra age, I found the beer to have gaiend a Belgianesque aspect leaning on the quad style. Belgian yeast is definitely more present. Still very enjoyable. pours pitch black, mocha head, nice oily golden lacing. aroma, chocolate malts, oat, boozy nose. flavor, some light char elements, roasted malts, chocolate, grainy, boozy with a lasting chocolate mouthfeel. Boozy for sure, with a mild chocolate bitter finish/hops. Though with some age the hop profile was more subdued.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured thick, black and oily with a large dark brown head. The aroma was strong with ripe fruits, port wine, pineapple and hints of cocoa, vanilla and caramel. The flavor was strong port wine, bourbon, candied fruits, sweet malts and chocolate syrup. The finish was long with port wine, fruit and caramel. The mouthfeel was very thick and smooth. The alcohol was well hidden. Excellent!

Bottle: Poured a deep pitch-black color stout with a large dirt brown color ale with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of candy with some nice Belgian malt with light roastiness. Taste is also a very nice mix between some candy with some notes of roast malt and lightly sweet Belgian malt. Body is quite full with good carbonation and surprisingly not alcohol was apparent. Very well done overall and easily drinkable considering the ABV and nice experiment.
