King’s Arms Tap Takeover. Keg. Opaque black - brown beer, tiny pale tan head. Palate is light, dry and crisp. Modest dark malts, a whisper of dark chocolate. A dried fruit and lemon sourness emerges. Tart dark fruits and a little Coca Cola. A forensic trace of Cognac. Finishes light. A quad? Bit sour for that innit?

Keg at the Kings Arms during the Crooked Stave tap takeover - London. Big ups to the pub for getting these beers in! Pours murky dark brown with a creamy beige head. The nose holds brown sugar, molasses and tangy, dark fruits. Medium sweet flavor with lots of wood, old leathery berries, Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Tart finish with more woody notes, modest earthy bitterness, beat-up leather. Novel.

Keg at The Kings Arms. It pours opaque brown with a small beige head. The nose is rich roast, boozy, brandy, honeycomb, burnt toffee and butterscotch. The taste is tart, tangy, dark fruits, big acidity, lemon sherbet, balsamic vinegar and plenty of tang with a short, dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Perhaps a bit too much acidity, but still a decent enough quad.

Bottle: Poured a clear deep brown color ale with zero head or any lacing. Aroma of stale caramel malt with some residual brown sugar notes is more or less pleasant. Taste is also dominated by stale caramel malt notes with light barrel-aged notes and some gross brown sugar residual notes. Body is light for style with zero carbonation and no real apparent alcohol notes. I either got a bad bottle or I just really didn’t appreciate the zero carbonation and stale notes associated with this beer.
