A few times a year we cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses, uncensored, uncut, unplugged. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again.

Flemish monks brewed the first Abt. A voluptuous temptress they named for their Monastery Abbot. Belgian Dark Candi Sugar encourages the decadence of rum, raisin dark chocolate and sherry like fruit tones to conspire happily in almost 20° Plato. Rich and full bodied this is one to lie down or if you are bold enjoy now, but take your time - linger. This beer cries to be sipped and enjoyed.

Bottle. Apple, orange, and chocolate malt aroma. Medium brown with small head. Sweet caramel malt and light alcohol aroma. Lighter body. Not bad but not very complex.

Deep brown beer, semi transparent. Tiny white head. Crispy palate. Sweet malt turning creamy. A little herb and coca cola in the undertone. Finishes smooth with a little vanilla ice cream! An odd concoction of a beer. Not horrible at all but a clunky mixture of disparate flavours.

12 oz. bottle, pours an opaque dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma of dark red fruits, brown sugar, and syrupy caramel malt. Flavour is quite strong, with loads of caramel malt, brown sugar, maple syrup and a Belgian yeasty twang. Kind of light bodied for the style, with a brown sugar and Belgian yeast finish. Decent stuff, but nowhere close to the best quads.

Bottle: Poured a clear dark brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of candi sugar and dry fruits is quite nice with light candi ester. Taste is also a good mix between some residual candi sugar, fruit ester and dry raisins and plums with big malt backbone. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Solid interpretation of the style without being overly sweet.

Big thanks to GT2! Smells a bit oaky with some plum, dark fruits. Pours with a little head that disappears completely - dark red colour. Taste finishes with a note of bitterness and starts with some alcohol, a touch of fruity sweetness and even a little citrus.

Dark brown with minimal sediment. The aroma has alcohol, red wine, sweet malt and Belgian yeast. Good palate, and very low carbonation. Flavor is sweet with lots of malt, some dried fruit, a very light vinous character & port. A good beer. It tastes more like a dubbel than an abt, which is ok.

Dark ruby pour, moderate lace - nose of chocolate, toffee, raisin, cherry skins, sherry - it is so hard to find a quad that is not overly alcoholic, too sweet, or both, especially from an American brewer - not surprisingly, NG pulls it off - creamy mouthfeel, medium body - moderate sweetness, tempered by some light oxidation, spiciness and a hint of sour fruit character - plum, raisin and a light sherry note - a little bit of heat in the finish, but the alcohol is mostly well hidden - a little dangerously drinkable for the strength, but a solid rendition from an exceptional brewer.
