On tap at Local Option in Chicago, October 22, 2011. Almost black with a small beige head. Sweet aroma and taste with notes of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and some "milk". Creamy mouth feel and easy to drink. Nice beer to sip.

Bottle. Dark brown with half-inch head. The aroma is a mix of oaty and nutty. Soft. The flavour is a bit understated, maybe a little too sweet in the finish to be interesting.

12oz bottle. Opaque brown-black with a thin, soapy beige head. Sweet, nutty chocolate aroma. Rich and full bodied for the moderate ABV, this successfully captures the essence of the Caribbean Stout. Intensely sweet, pungent raisin, chocolate, burnt island dark fruit. The lactose tones really come through. A little too astringent for the style. Still, a really interesting, well executed interpretation. Gets old kind of quick, chalky finish.

Bottle from Liz. Pours very dark brown with a beige head. Odd burnt sugar/burnt malt aroma. Med body/moderate carb. Flavor is burnt malt, but quite smooth. Creamy? No. Tasty thing tho.

Courtesy of markwise pouring deep clear mahogany with thin tan head. The aroma is nice and rich with chocolate, coffee, toffee, earthiness, mild chocolate and a touch of burnt malts. The taste is similar with chocolate, toffee, mild coffee notes, earthiness and some burnt malts all coming together nicely to creating a pleasing and fairly rich flavor. Nice stuff.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malts and a bit of milk chocolate in there. Flavor is some roasted malt and then not much after that. Does leave a little sweetness on the tounge after the swallow but not enought to carry this one. A little lite all around.

Pours looking like cola - the mouthfeel is also very similar to cola, with some prickly, fizzy carbonation on the tongue - very sweet and one-dimensional - some bitter, cheap-ass coffee flavor and a roasty/ashy quality - a tiny bit of bitterness on the end, but mostly a sugary sweetness - this tastes like someone’s first, semi-successful attempt at homebrew. 635310

Lactose aroma. A little sweet with more lactose in the aroma along with lightly roasted malt. Black in color and average palate. I don’t like lactose in my stouts but this one does an OK job with it.

Bottle from cbkschubert! Nose is roasty with coffee and chocolate; very dark but transparent brown with a small tan head; flavor was of slightly carbonized caramel with some coffee mixed in giving it a rather smoky tone in a nice medium body.

Brought to marinaro500’s post-Thanksgiving gathering by BBB63. Deep brown body with some orangey-red highlights, thin light cream head. Nice deep roasted malt nose, definite lactose notes, and coffee (a coffee and cream feel). Flavor was nice but light with coffee, lactose, chocolate and light roasted malts. A tad sweet but too thin-bodied, surprising considering the relatively strong aroma.
