Cask @ Dirty Dicks, Halifax. Black with a thin smooth head. Has a light roasted malt aroma and taste. Slips down the palate too well.

Half pint, cask at Castle Hotel. Good lacing from a tiny layer. Deep, dark brown body. Smell of liquorice, not overdone. Mid-sweet liquorice to the taste buds joined by a touch of earthy malts and dark fruits. Bittersweet endnotes. Quite tasty (Manchester, 21.01.2013).

Cask at Tap East, London. Pours clear, red-brown with a light, white foam head. Bitter chocolate nose, light roast and earth. Light sweet flavor with dark malts, ash, burnt rubber, charred toast, baking cocoa. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Light sweet finish with baking cocoa, dirt and moderate roast. Fine.

Cask handpull at Tap East. Very dark brown beer with disappearing head. Not a great stout. Little bit of choc bit of liquorice. Bit poor. Not much condition

Cask-conditioned at the North Yorkshire beeriodical, the Seven Stars, Bristol 10/12/2012. Jet black with a tight, off-white head. Aroma of dark fruits, chocolate and roasted malts. Flavour had plenty more chocolate and fruit, plus some liquorice leading to a dry finish. Enjoyable.
