650ml bottle. Cloudy, chestnut colour with average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, dark beige head. Sweet-ish, malty aroma, notes of toffee, caramel, hints of milk chocolate, nougat and treacle. Taste is sweet-ish, minimally nuttily malty, notes of toffee, nougat, hints of caramel, milk chocolate, treacle, some bitter hop with zesty hints of mandarine as counterweight; widely hidden alcohol, a minimally warming touch in the finish, though. Oily-watery texture, smooth and soft palate.

Bottle. An unclear, glowing reddish dark amber colored beer topped by a dense, finger-thick light beige head. Rather sugary aroma with dried apricots, some alcohol, notes of resins and pine cones and a little caramel note. Dried fruits, caramel, resiny and piney hops and some caramel in the flavor. Full body and a pleasant carbonation level, a tad sweet on the palate. Lasting finish. Too sweet and a bit light perhaps, and lacking a bit on the complexity. 140816

Bottle 650ml @ Geokkjer
Pours slightly hazy amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, toffee, dried fruits, raisin and plums. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long sweet fruity and slightly cocoa and caramel finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Sample at Ale Alpharetta. Pours dark orange, with a small, beige head. The aroma is butterscotch, oak, butter toffee, vanilla, and some grapefruit. Very sweet, with a good bitterness coming forward in the finish. Heavy body, thick, and a little clingy. Overall, this is a nice, malt-bomb of a barley wine. The hops balance it nicely, but are not prominent in the nose or flavor.
