Cask@GBBF2012. Rubyish amber colour, small slightly off-white head. Aroma is fruity, wooden, floral and also has some mild grassy and wooden notes. Flavour is rather similar with some mild syrupy notes. Wellbalanced.

Cask-conditioned at the Kent Beeriodical, Seven Stars, Bristol February 2012. Reddish-brown with a slight, off-white head. Roasty with some nuttiness, a touch of red fruit and gently bitter finish. Good.

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Kentish Town, London, 21 July 2011) Dark brown colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark bread, ryvita, raisins and spices (nutmeg, cinnamon?). Malty taste with notes of caramel, dark bread and a mild, slightly spicy, bitterness in the finish. Rather light body, quite dry. Decent mild ale.

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW. Clearish, red-brown pour with a mild head. Faint roasty malts on the nose, hints of sugary fruit. Flavor is nice, if a bit bland, with notes of toasted, dark malts, grape, and faint wood. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Faintly sweet finish, lightly roasty with faint fruit notes. Decent but lacks oomph. (April 2011, score 3.4)
Cask at GBBF 2016. Day 1. Pours clear light brown with a frothy, off-white head. Dry with lightly toasted malts, subtle earth, relaxed cocoa notes. Light bodied with fine carbonation. More dry cocoa notes in the finish. Not bad. (August 2016, score: 3.4)
