Cask at The Freed, Walmer, Kent, Saturday 12th March 2016 in the company of Ian (Harrisoni) Pours dark brown with a rim of bubbles, reddy hue, good clarity. Sweet blackberry on the nose. More maltier in the mouth than the big hoppiness but still very nice if a little sweet. A7 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.4

(Cask at Craft Beer Co Clapham, London, 28 Nov 2015) Dark brown colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark bread, chocolate and roasted malt. Malty, roasted taste with dark bread, roasted malt, chocolate, orange peel and a balanced citric bitterness. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty, but more like a brown ale with fresh hops than a black IPA. Quite nice.

Cask at Craft Beer Clerkenwell, 11/09/14. Chestnut brown with moderate light beige spotting - not very CDA looking! Nose is floral hop, toffee, brown bread, nutty wash. Taste tunes in a little more to the style, earthy hops, toffee, faint pine, straw, citric rinds. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Easy drinking affair but just not hitting the style notes very well, lack of roast, lack of pine, lack of hops, a washed out CDA.

Old Fountain. Cask. Clear amber beer, tidy pale tan head. Smooth palate with mild and fine carbonation. There is a light touch of mellow dark malt character here including a little roast. Mild citric hops underneath. Finishes semi dry with a good dose and a good mix of malt and hop bitterness. Not bad.
