650ml bottle. Jet black colour with average, thick, creamy, mostly lasting, moderately lacing, beige to tan head. Roasty-spicy, chocolately, slightly smoky, dark malty aroma, notes of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, cocoa, hints of peat, a touch of leather, fruity overtones with hints of orange zest, vanilla everywhere around, whiffs of alcohol, some caramel as well. Taste is sweet-ish, chocolately dark malty, notes of vanilla, cocoa, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, caramel, burnt caramel, floral hints of honey, a touch of hundreds and thousands, hints of orange, orange zest; lingering finish becomes slightly dry, woody and peaty with more distinct cocoa notes, subtly warming but overall well hidden alcohol. Oily to viscous texture, smooth, soft, silky and creamy palate. Excellent!

Pitch black color. Beautiful nose of baker’s chocolate, oak, vanilla, iodine, coconuts in the nose. Medium body, oak, chocolate, a tartness from the whiskey, peaty, vanilla. Very interesting but carbonation is a bit high. Alcohol is well hidden. Nice

I got this at the old Imazato 2 years ago and brought it back to share at the 5th Portland Event at the new Imazato location. Deschutes Black Butte XXVIII 11% Deep black with a foamy beige head and a sweet oats whiskey and cacao aroma. Fairly full bodied with a lovely drinkability though I didn’t get orange peel or peat smoke though everyone said it was super smooth and tasty. The

65 cl bottle (11,6%) @ Ruoholahti Beer Festival 2018. Bottled on 13.06.2016
Aroma has licorice and sweet bourbon tones with vanilla. Flavour has vanilla, bourbon, salty licorice and alcohol. A tad too salty and boozy but decent slow sipper anyway.

650ml bottle @ Ruoholahti Beer Festival. Pours dark brown, almost black with a small head. Aroma of roasty malts, peat, bourbon, wood, oak, orange peel and cocoa. Taste is smooth, slightly roasty and sweetish with some orange peel, peat, oak, wood, whisky and cocoa. Finish is sweetish, slightly roasty and syrupy with some coffee, cocoa, peat and orange peel. Okay, quite balanced.

Bottle @Ulfborg Tasting. Black with beige froth. Roasted aroma, chili. Flavour has chili heat, bourbon booze. Hmmm... quite flavourful, but not entirely balanced.
