Sample at the "Black Friday 03" tasting on 11/24/2017. Black pour with a medium foamy dark beige head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patches of lace on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and dark fruit. Full-bodied with flavors of charred malt, cocoa, fruit and vanilla. The finish is roasty and oaky with a malt and dark fruit aftertaste. Good beer overall.

On tap at Black Friday. Clear deep dark brown. Medium roast and barrel flavors. Carmel toasted malts and smooth feel. Some chocolate notes as well.

Bottle with about a year spent in the beer fridge. Very dark brown pour with a thick, but quick to dissipate brown head. Big aroma of rich malty sweetness, bittersweet cocoa, light bourbon barrel. Taste is heavily sweet, lots of dark chocolate malt, vanilla, and some woody barrel notes. Lingering bourbon barrel sweet end. Faint notes of the scotch barrel and a little bit of smoky peat, but very faint. Somewhat boozy, but great to sip on and warm up as the fall temps have arrived. Late in the glass, as it continues to warm, a little of the orange/citrus starts to emerge in the air.

650 ml bottle. Bottled on 6/ 2016. Very dark brown, thin head. Flavor is real nice, roasted malts, chocolate, mild oak, light citrus peel in the finish. Mild carbonation, fuller body for a porter. Mild smoky hints. It does show some mild booze, still decent.

Bottle shared in NH - big thanks to AirForceHops. Pours deep brown with a frothy, khaki head. Nice aroma, rounded roasted malt character, cocoa, dried dark fruits. Medium sweet flavour with a hint of booze, rich chocolate, more roast, raisins, a little plum. Medium to full bodied, lightly oily, with fine carbonation. Nicely balanced finish, with further dried dark fruits, rich and rounded chocolate, soft roast, a little vanilla, mellow ash. Great depth, and also really drinkable. One of the better Black Buttes I can recall. Excellent.

Bomber from AFH. brown edges. nearly black in the glass. 2 finger espresso head. fait aroma of cocoa, chlorine and licorice. Licorice flavor, a little vanilla but very faint. Not getting the other adjuncts. dark fruit finish with a lot of barrel. Tasty but too much licorice.
