Slightly hazy brown color. Perfumey aroma with some sweet red fruits. Flavour is of sweet glace cherries and a hint of tangerine. This was served quite cool which made the artificial cherry flavour quite ’bearable’.

Cask handpull at CountyHotel JDW Ashford. Mid amber brown colour thin beige head. Spice or some fruit added to this ehich is artificial and frankly nasty. Base beer is probably ok but i hate the artificial additions.

[Cask at Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading] Deep amber with a moderate white head. There’s a lot of plum. A LOT of plum. And an enormous amount of spice - lots of cinnamon and an entire nutmeg factory. And it’s very sweet - you wouldn’t want a lot of it. But at least the brewer hasn’t copped out with selling a boring brown bitter/ bland golden ale with nothing festive other than a silly name. This is a full on Christmas beer, no holds barred. It’s very definitely a dessert beer. It’s also kind of fun. And it actually went rather well with the Wetherspoon’s Christmas pudding and brandy sauce, which incidentally is one of the best Christmas pudding’s I’ve had that isn’t home-made. OK, technically it lacks balance and subtlety, but surely throwing yourself into Christmas full-on, no-holds bars is what it’s all about! Well done to Beartown for not being timid!

Cask @ JDW Elgin, 111212
Light copper brown, clear, dense white head, not much lacing
Aroma is very fruity - red berries, plum, mixed fruit jam, raspberry syrup, odd fruits, no malt or hops
Taste - Mixed fruit jam, apple, christmas spices, spicy apple pie filling, getting a hint of pear, slight malts, no hops, screwed up, odd - but it isn’t terrible to me - it actually OK in a weird sort of way
Palate - light to medium body. Finish - quite dry, fruity mixed jam, linger some bitterness
Overall - Well this was an odd beer, aroma quite different to the taste. I can understand why some other reviewers might think its shit. Yeah, it’s messed up but I didn’t personally find it all that bad at all - it’s OK but I wouldn’t have more than a pint

Cask at Hamilton Hall, JDW, London. Pours clear chestnut brown with a creamy, fleshy head. Berries and bubblegum on the nose. Medium sweet flavor with astringent, leafy bitterness, lots of oily cough syrup, artificial berry fruits, some fruit cake. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately sweet finish, lightly sticky, with modest leafy hops and lingering artificial flavors like tropical fruit bubblegum, berries, grapes. Pretty horrific beer.

Cask at the King’s Head (JDW), Salisbury. Amber with a thin white head that laced the glass; aroma of cheap and nasty gluhwine; a similar taste with a thick, oily, body; and a prickly bitterness before a dry finish. This summarises everything I dislike about Christmas markets in a single glass. Best avoided, unless you are one of Santa’s little helpers.
