330ml bottle. Pours very dark brown with a large head. Aroma is very meaty, with coffee beans and dark fruits. Taste is very beefy with dark fruits. Touch of alcohol. Oily mouthfeel.

Bottle at ChrisO Snow Tasting. It pours near black with a small tan head. The nose is light smoke, caramel, toffee, coffee grinds, faint meatiness and cocoa. The taste is roasted malt, light acidity, toast, coffee, dark fruit, berry, meat, dark chocolate, nice bitterness, hint of smoke and alcohol warmth with a dry finish. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. Flavoursome, but pretty meaty indeed. Flavoursome nonetheless.

33cl bottle from The Bottle Shop Canterbury. I feel that I should be drinking this beer on a train after Leighton and Colin’s ratings. Black beer with lasting beige head. Coffee choc aroma. which is quite intense but promises that the beer will be pretty drinkable in the mouth. Yes, definitely drinkable. Wow, that’s a pretty good impy stout from London. That’s an interesting point, what is the best impy stout brewed in London currently? Wow, that’s quite intense yet poised at the same time. Needs a bit of time to settle down I think to really unleash it’s overall power. But even so the hit of espresso coffee and intense dark choc is pretty extreme. Good hops on finish too. pretty accomplished and shows good promise. the choc if anything gets a bit too intense. sweet choc and then bitter bitter choc and hops. Pretty damn good though.

Bottle on the train to Luton, en route to Bulgaria for Christmas. Pours rich, black-brown with a thick, khaki foam head. Rich dark malt nose, touches of smoke, cocoa, dark fruits. Medium to big sweet flavor, strong bitter chocolate, dark toast, mellow earthy bitterness, light charcoal. Full bodied with fine, smooth carbonation. Modest warmth to finish, loads of baking cocoa, dirt, brownies, hints of smoke and dark berries. Robust and very well balanced. Never too sweet, nicely hopped. A winner.

Bottle on the train to Edinburgh, cheers to Willis for the pour - 08/12/12 (bottle sourced from that gaff at St Pancras - Source Market?). Very dark mahogony brown approaching light black with a thin tan head that retains well. Mose is hops, jammy notes, dark malt, light smoke. Taste comprises dark malts, touch of chocolate, hops, some pine, smoke. Medium bodied with bite, soft carbonation, dry finish. Overall good stuff, but perhaps a little young and fresh - may benefit from a bit of ageing?
